What's New on the Ranch: Here’s Your Sign

These past few weeks on the ranch have felt like a dream, just hadn't felt real yet.
However, before the trip back to Bat Cave, NC this past week to help out Bat Cave Disaster Relief, we built and raised our sign. It’s a small thing, but it feels like the first big marker that this dream is truly taking shape.
In the meantime, the to-do list hasn’t slowed down. We’ve been prepping the pad for the trailer our friend Corey is bringing, which will be our temporary home until the house is built. We can’t thank him enough for letting us use it.
As much as we love camping, it’ll be nice to have a little warmth through the winter and a place to set up an office. (Let’s be honest: a mesh tent window doesn’t exactly scream professionalism on Teams calls.)
Most days are filled with hands-on work: pulling out tire-popping tree staubs, clearing trees, brush, and getting trails open so we can easily explore more of the property.
A load of gravel is on the way to keep Corey’s trailer from sinking in the mud holes we have on the main ranch road.
We’ve also been upgrading our firepit—aka The Kitchen—for when the work winds down and the stars come out.
Bit by bit, with every stump cleared, every trail opened, and now with our sign standing tall, Skull Creek Ranch is beginning to feel like home.
